I believe December is the most busy month of the year. But it is also by far the most cosiest.
I love to lit the candles in the evening and the smell of the Christmas tree.
I love to do some handsewing projects while listening to Christmas music.

The red/ orange quilt is done.
I used a charmpack "recess" from moda for the nine triangles blocks.

Friday's post

Hello, first a big thank you for your comments and kind words on my last post.
I feel very honored by them all, thanks!
Friday already...is it just me or does time flies!! I had today off from work and went shopping. And a trip to the post office to send of two parcels.

giveaway gifts

And of course I couldn't go home without fresh flowers for the weekend. I love tulips. Maybe not the perfect flower to have in a warm central heated house, but I enjoy them while they last.

Friday's fresh flowers

I also had to buy some magazines.

lovely reading

I can browse for hours in these magazines. look, I even found my perfect cooker.

Please join me for a cup of tea and enjoy my new teapot! It arrived yesterday morning and boy that was quick. I thought it would take a week or three. It's real pretty and goes perfect with my other china. I love a bit of mitch match.

Have a lovely weekend everyone! Before I go I love to share this cat with you. I copied this from the cover of Maison Idees Magazine no 38. I bought this magazine while I was in French and I love this 'chat héroïque'. I believe it's a doorstop (can't read French language)...See the bandage on his tail, so funny!

Home

We came home yesterday from a lovely vacation in Zeeland. After 10 days living a relax lifestyle it's back to reality today. Our washing machine is working overtime, I have to do grocery shopping to fill up the empty cupboards, think about what we gonna eat for dinner tonight...
I have some serious pruning to do in the backyard, green is taking over!
The wisteria is a beauty though.

And so is this clematis.
Sadly there is no activity seen in and around the birdhouse lately so I think the tomtit has build his nest somewere else.

I turned over a new page on the calender almost half May! Oo, this reminds me..almost time for my dentist appointment..AchHHH!!

I joined a mini quilt swap and just before I got hooked on the granny's. I made this ohio star. I'm not sure if i will use it for this swap. The mini quilt has to be spring inspired so maybe some spring flowers?

At the moment granny squares is all I do to fill up the free minutes.

Before I end today's post I want to show you this cute childsgame I found on a fleemarket last week. I believe it's from the '60.

Inside are these lovely dolls waiting to get dressed. Isn't this cute!

I believe I hear the ' i'm ready signal' of the dryer, so duty calls!
Have a great start of the week!

still here

Thanks to you all for your lovely warm wishes and welcome to our granddaughter Luca. Here she is, our sweet little girl. She is so fantastic and she does what all babies do (most of the time)...eat, sleep and grow!

Luca

Things have been a bit quiet lately here on the Dutch blue blog, but that does not mean I have sat still! I kept myself busy with searching for a new cabinet/ bookcase for the bedroom. We had an empty wall since our old cubboard moved out to Luca's room, see this post.

After seeing many, I mean "MANY" differant cubboards, cabinets and bookcases we finaly went for the Billy bookcase system from Ikea. It covers up the whole wall perfectly and the glass doors are making it almost impossible for dust to nest on the shelfs. This is certainly no superfluous luxury for a bookcase in a bedroom!
Ikea's "Billy bookcase"

The bookcase looks still a bit empty now, but not for long, I'm sure!

trip around the world

We had a lovely hot, sunny weekend and therefore I don't have much to show here. I spend all of my lazy time outside doing as little as possible! It's just so nice to be outside again after a very wet July!

trip around the world
Trip around the world in my backyard. (Trip around the world is the name of the pattern.)

This tablecloth started of originaly as a quilt. I made the top years ago but after that was done I didn't feel much to quilt it anymore. So I choose the easy way out and sew a backing fabric against the top and .... there was my tablecloth!
Now I use it on my table outside. So when the sun is shining, like it shines today it gives me that extra summer feeling!

Have a nice day, until next time, now I'm off again for another lazy day!

polka dots

First I want to Thank everybody for all the lovely comments on my last post. Blogger doesn't always send a persons email-adress along with a comment, so I didn't got the chaince to thank everyone personal.
When I was taken the pictures of the quilt at my daughters home I also made a picture of her Oilily servies. I find this so lovely and colourful with all the polka dots. It makes me happy just to look at it.

servieskast

M is collecting this servies piece by piece at Douwe Egberts with coffee-points. Those points come with the coffee and tea you buy from Douwe Egberts. Lots and lots of points are needed. Luckily M has the whole family saving for her, otherwise she was a nervous wreck by now from drinking all that coffee!!

Wisteria

I just love it when the wisteria is in bloom!
It's a pity, no birds in the little birdhouse this year.
