Free as a bird in June...

June already.....
it's hard to believe we are almost half way through 2010!!

June

It still is a bit quiet here on my blog, sorry for that...
Just hope you haven't forgotten me by now!

Update on last post...I was still thinking abc and numbers for the new baby quilt
when I spotted this gorgeous fabric.
With Heleen I was in this lovely quiltstore in Zoutelande.
And there they were...cute little birds.

I immediatly had a vision on how to use these cuties in the baby quilt.
I had the perfect pattern made up in my mind.
This pattern didn't included abc or numbers, so they have to wait for a future project.
I bought the fabric with the larger birds (above) and this pretty stash (below).

I did cut out all the birds and only used the blue ones for the quilt.

The pastel colored checker fabric is also the fabric that's used as liner for the baby crib.

The finished top is on the hoop and ready to quilt.
Hope I'll be back soon to show you the result!

  9. I love the birdie fabric and cutting them out into squares rather than using a whole piece is a very inspiring idea.

  25. Well Corry, you've done it again! The perfect combination.

I have a question, I am about to begin quilting a project that is about 60 inches square. Do you baste stitch your quilts before you start?

    So confusing???

  29. How adorable! The birds are cute and the colors are so cheery! I'm liking your hoop that you use for hand quilting. It's large but not gigantic. That might be something I'll need to invest in eventually. :)
