busy fingers

Things are back to normal over here. I've tried to stay in vacation mode for as long as possible but after a busy schedule at work.... I wish I had vacation again (lol)! Though I did manage to work some more on the quilt for the summer swap It's a quilt with cut out fabric flowers and stitchery stems and leaves. I'm almost done with the top, just have to add the borders.

mini quilt summer swap

These two I did in France. I always have something to do, a nice small work, with me on holiday.

Noah's ark

Like this Ohiostar pincushion, I made it last spring vacation.

I just love to keep my fingers busy. Notice the tiny quilt in the back, it's a perfect match with the new polkadot teaset, my last purchase.

How about you, do you take your projects with you while on holiday? I'm curious, do you feel the need to keep your fingers busy all the time?
Well, I think I do.....off now....there are borders to sew on. Have a wonderful day!

not much going on

Although there is not much to blog about just a few words to let you know that I'm still around. Keeping myself really busy, not one day goes by that isn't packed with things to do. Unfortuanly non crafty things except for this stitchery from Lynette Anderson Noah's arc. It's far from finished there are a few more months to go. Take a look at this group, here you can see many beautiful (finished) noah's arks.

Thank you for the fine advice on the birds issue from last post. I bought a new birdhouse so now the birds have a choice on where they want to build their nest. Maybe another couple will move in the second house?

And to celebrate Spring I bought some primula's.
Now I only have to wait for Spring weather!

Have a nice day!

making stitches

Most off you sugested hand quilting for this quilt and I totally agree, that would look best. But as you can see I started quilting with the machine. Reason??...just wanted immediately result!
Well, fast it goes... although I'm not so happy with the open spaces.
There's an idea in my head how to fill those spaces up, so probably there will be some working by hand after all!

Another new project I can hardly wait to start are these pillowcases.
I found them at one of my favorite shops the HEMA.
They are 50 cm square and made from 100% cotton. The woven threads are easy to count so perfect for doing cross-stitch on. They also sell these cases in red. That would be a lovely color for Christmas combining with white thread.

And finally a picture of Noah's ark free Bom, I love doing these little stitcheries.

I've a few more strips to sew on, so see you later!

Summer?

Where's the summer? Today yet another day with rainy wet cold weather. It feels like autum!
Forced to stay inside I finally caught up with my mountain of ironing today, thank goodness!
And I managed to made the last stitches on this dove. I'm trying to catch up on this BOM as well. I'm months behind!

dove

Don't know why I'm behind because this really is a lovely work to do!
Also made these cards. A quick and easy job...sewing fabric patches on cardpaper using gold thread

That's just what I like ....minimal effort, maximal result.

building an ark

The titel sounds like a lot of heavy work is going on around here!
Well, not yet... I don't hear any hammering and sawing at this very moment but....there is a slight possibility that this can change real soon!! That is if I can convince DH how much fun it is to make this arc and its animals!
I saw it in this book; and I love it.

And now a little update on the other arc!
As I told you in March, I joined the stitch-along Noah's Ark BOM from Lynette anderson designs.
The first month "two rabbits" is finished. Please keep in mind this was my first stitchery attempt.

I'm still working on month 2 "the dove".
Month 3 "rainbow and cows" and month 4 "the kangaroos" are waiting patiently to be next.

I'm in no hurry, its a pleassant little work to do in between and its lovely to see it grow.
I'll keep you posted, till next time!

Rabbits and a winner

Wow...I was stunned by all the comments I received on the giveaway post. There were so many!!
Thank you each and everyone of you, you all make my day!
So this morning was the big moment. I put all the names in a box and asked dd (she's expecting her first baby) to pick out one name.

And the winner is: Katherine from sew me something good
Congratulations Katherine, there will be a package sent of to you somewhere next week!

Now, let me show you my little project for upcomming weekend. I decided to join the stitch-along Noah's Ark BOM from Lynette anderson designs. This is my very first attempt on making a stichery, I like doing it so far.
I choose the gingham fabrics to use between the stitchery blocks. I hope to show the result next week!
