Today I made a new bird, a summer bird. I used light/ bright colours and for the bird's tail I used vintage lace. A few finishing touches before it will be ready for the store.

Hello dear blog friends

It's been a while since my last posting. Did you miss me..just a little bit?
Sorry for this kind of a long and unintentional break.
I have been busy with all sort of things and just didn't spend much time behind the computer.
I finished the babyquilt. It looks so sweet and it perfectly matches the crib.
I will show you some pictures soon.

In the meantime...
let me show you this music mobile I made for above the crib.

I used the animals from the 'Kathe Kruse mobile' that's hanging in Luca's room as a model.

I added tiny roses and a heart in the middle.

dd is in her last month of pregnancy now. She's feeling great and all is well.
She has decorated a beautiful and sweet babyroom.
She's done such a wonderful job.

And now..., now we just wait... and meanwhile enjoy summer!
See you all soon!

hearts on a string

I crochet some flowers. Thought it was best to start with,
what looked like the easiest pattern in the book.
The first flower took me a while to figure out but the second one
and the rest that followed after that did go much easier.
I didn't even had to use the book anymore!

I used the crochet flowers to decorate my hearts on a string.

What do you think....
Don't they look lovely?

Well I'm off now, gonna  make more flowers.
Have a wonderful weekend!

touches of red

The border is just about done and I found the right
fabric for the back that matches perfectly.

found the right fabric for the back

I made another gingerbread heart.
This one is a larger version of the ones I made last year.

It so much fun to create something new out of old stuff!
The brown piece was originally a small table cloth with four embroidered corners.
It came from a triftshop. I'm making  the last heart from the last leftover corner.
So, that was one small, old tablecloth well used, I would say!

sewing a heart

Because of a few days off from work I can get a lot of sewing done.
Here is another red angel bag. The same as last years angel bags,
only this time I used a pink and red roses fabric for the lining and added a silk rose.

To end today's post I show you what came in the mail yesterday.
It has nothing to do with today's post title but I'm so happy with this Mary Engelbreit 2010 calendar. I bought this at Amazon.

I'm off now, have to get my Mexican flu shot this afternoon, brrrr!

things to do

I had a late start this morning, I was feeling kind of lazy. And the best
way to start a lazy morning is reading the newspaper (in bed) while drinking a big mug of coffee.
Oke, I feel a bit guilty here, there is no time to be lazy.... lots of things have to be done before I go of to work this afternoon. Do laundry, vacuum cleaning the floors, going to the shop for croceries, preparing diner.
You see, my boys do need to eat while I'm at work!
But I can't force myself to do any of those things. I rather be upstairs in my room. Finish a summer quilt, there is a deadline coming up! Finish a little Dutch girl. Sew triangels from squares..
I have to buy more of this fabric so I can make a larger quilt.

recess

I have to make  angels... I promised people an angel...they still are waiting!

I have two star points ready for a lonestar...only six to go.

And then there is my cutting corner. I desperately need to declutter this area!

first things first....I better run to the store now!

busy fingers

Things are back to normal over here. I've tried to stay in vacation mode for as long as possible but after a busy schedule at work.... I wish I had vacation again (lol)! Though I did manage to work some more on the quilt for the summer swap It's a quilt with cut out fabric flowers and stitchery stems and leaves. I'm almost done with the top, just have to add the borders.

mini quilt summer swap

These two I did in France. I always have something to do, a nice small work, with me on holiday.

Noah's ark

Like this Ohiostar pincushion, I made it last spring vacation.

I just love to keep my fingers busy. Notice the tiny quilt in the back, it's a perfect match with the new polkadot teaset, my last purchase.

How about you, do you take your projects with you while on holiday? I'm curious, do you feel the need to keep your fingers busy all the time?
Well, I think I do.....off now....there are borders to sew on. Have a wonderful day!

she's the cutest

It's getting darker outside...we're gonna have some rain soon I'm sure!
So a quick post before I go take the garden cushions inside. Here is me and my new dollie. I made her today.

dolly and me

I loved how she came alive soon as her face was embroidered on.
Isn't she the cutest dollie?

Ahhh..I hear the sound of thunder..I better start running!

blogging again

Thank you for your expressions of sympathy. I want you to know that all your kind words and thoughts are very much appreciated.
After days of sadness it feels good to put all my energy back in crafting and blogging again. It also takes my mind of things. So does cleaning the house and bringing home new spring flowers!

narcissen

We have nice weather that makes me want to go outside
while some birds want to come in. Like this little guy
..he is trying for three days now and still won’t give up!

pimpelmeesje wil naar binnen

If he's looking for a place to build his nest...just around the corner hangs the perfect house. Maybe I have to hang out a better sign!

for rent

Talking of birds..i can’t stop making these feathered creatures.

making birds

I also start making a new doll

And while browsing in some old Ariadne’s I spotted this lovely couple in typical Dutch costumes.

What a great cross-stitch pattern to use with the red- blue- white fabrics.

I hear ticking again. The little bird is back...could't be that my windows are so clean, so spotless that the bird thinks he can fly right through?
Spotless, my windows..yeh right!..haha
